Denisse Ariana Pérez is a Caribbean-born, Copenhagen-based copywriter and photographer. She is obsessed with words, people and imagery and finding ways to make them speak to one another. Her photographic work focuses on highlighting the beauty and changing the narratives of marginalised communities in particular Afro and LGBTQI+ communities.

These photos form part of my "Cloaked" and "Men and Water" series. My work aims to portray men, in particular black men, through a more sensible and nuanced lens. Black men have been historically hypersexualized or reduced to their physical strength by Westernized patriarchal systems. I'm interested in portraying them as complex, multifaceted, vulnerable beings.
