Duilio Amarante Martins, was born in 1981 in São Paulo, Brazil, where he also grew up. In 2000, he went to England where he lived 7 years. 2002-2007 Photography and Sculpture studies at Emerson College, England. Since 2010, he lives and works in Switzerland after living in Paris and Norway for a while. He has been a guest teacher at the Visual Art School Basel for the last 5 years. His photographs and sculptures have already been exhibited in Brazil, England, Norway, Germany and Switzerland.

"Circular Rays of Sun" : black and white photos of the sun taken in winter/early spring, mostly around sunset, showing not only sun rays but also an effect of the light forming concentric circles on tree branches. This is an ongoing project. "Mare" : colour images of the sea at Isola d’Elba. To show the sea in a different ways, with its amazing colours, lights and with its mysteries of the depths. "Flower Paintings" : a colourful collections of images. Playing with the meaning of the word ‘Photography’ itself (to draw with light) and taking it a step further, using flowers as the colour palette, to paint these images.
