2021
Marc-Antoine Grepper

Born in Zürich, Marc-Antoine Grepper holds a MA in Architecture from EPF Lausanne and currently works for an international management consulting boutique in Switzerland. It all started back in the Eighties with a Nikon F and a b/w photo lab in the basement of his parents’ home, being introduced to the miracles of photography by his father. During the start of digitization in the early Nineties, he started to experiment with other technologies than b/w SLRs, making his first steps with compact APS cameras as well as in digital photography which are still an important part of his work today.

Experiencing as a pure amateur the enormous potential unveiled by numeric imaging in terms of real-time imaging, image resolution, color depth and various assisting features of modern high-tech cameras, he also has always been fascinated to tickle out the strengths of “cheap” mainstream compact cameras and bring those adequately back to the right analogue support, the paper on the wall. All the pictures were taken with the same Canon IXUS APS compact camera in the mid-Nineties during travels to NYC, Kochi, Helsinki and Venice. The negatives have been scanned with a resolution of 9600 dpi, a color depth of 24 bit and printed for the first time in late summer 2020 with its original cut-out to high quality cotton-based paper.
