I was born in South Africa, and from an early age the African bush was my place of solace. And while an affinity for numbers led me to a career in the world of reinsurance, my passion for nature, wildlife and art remains at my core. My camera gives me an excuse to escape the corporate world every so often, and visit the remote places of Earth while they’re still wild.

THREATENED Mankind's greed has wiped out vast expanses of African wilderness and continues to do so there and all over the world. Animals that used to roam freely across the whole of Africa have now been confined mostly to nature reserves. Habitat destruction, climate change, poaching and overhunting has resulted in more than 2600 species of African animals being classified as Threatened by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Covid wreaked havoc on the eco-tourism industry in Africa. This industry is a key contributor to conservation across the continent, but without funds coming from tourism anti-poaching efforts had to be curtailed. Threatened species' populations have been further reduced. How can you help? Travel to Africa! Take that dream safari trip and witness the majesty of these animals in their natural habitats while contributing to their conservation.

We focus so hard on the mountains we need to climb, that we miss the heavens we can reach through the climb.
