Hafen von Barcelona Möwen sind wahre Luftakrobaten. Auch wenn sie bösartig und laut sind und um jeden Bissen Futter oder eine vorteilhafte Position kämpfen, fliegen und agieren sie mit solcher Anmut, Präzision und Kühnheit. In einem Moment fliegen sie friedlich über unseren Köpfen und dann stürzen sie mit einem lauten Kreischen herab …

Meine Vorstellungen von Olivenbäumen waren viel zu romantisch. In der Landwirtschaft haben die Fakten des Lebens Vorrang vor hübschen Bildern von sonnenbeschienenen Bäumen im Nebel - sie spiegeln die Realität nicht. Dennoch hat es etwas Magisches, allein unter diesen uralten Bäumen zu stehen, die Geräusche der Pflückmaschinen in der Ferne, die langen Schatten und die Hitze. Träumen, Fotografieren.

I like working in B/W but as I wanted to try something new I coloured the photographs in post-processing. Then I used an old advertising trick and used two of them twice and placed these at the left and right sides of the lay-out. Three more images were placed between the two pairs. The images have a connection to light, weather and water and were made in September or October this year, in Switzerland. Camera = Leica Q2mono Ich arbeite gerne in S/W, aber da ich etwas Neues ausprobieren wollte, habe ich die Fotos in der Nachbearbeitung koloriert. Dann habe ich einen alten Werbetrick angewandt und zwei von ihnen doppelt verwendet und diese an der linken und rechten Seite des Layouts platziert. Drei weitere Bilder wurden zwischen den beiden Paaren platziert. Die Bilder haben einen Bezug zu Licht, Wetter und Wasser und wurden im September oder Oktober dieses Jahres in der Schweiz aufgenomm

Der Messerschmied/The Knife Smith In Escholzmatt in the Luzernerhinterland, there is a small restaurant next to the church. Behind the restaurant the Knife Smith had his studio - 'had' because it has since burnt down. In this small space a young man made knives of exquisite beauty. The snow lay thick on the ground and it was bitterly cold. It was good to get into the smithy and the warmth and the smell of metal and the sounds of work. Hearing protection was necessary – when the ancient hammer falls onto the red-hot metal there’s a loud thud, the whole building shakes and sparks fly everywhere. Slowly but surely the chunk of metal, comprising many layers is flattened and formed, then cooled and finished off. The finished product is a work of art and skill. If the flattening process goes wrong then the whole procedure has to be re-started with a new metal blank.

Project Bridges The images were made in Stoss/SZ, Luzern, Ballycastle and Dublin, Benicàssim, Flugplatz Buochs and Valencia. Bridges are constructions for connectivity – from east to west, from north to south, from up and down. What is connected to what and to whom? How many bridges have been constructed over the centuries? And if only they could speak and tell their tales! My pictures show the new and the old, the beautiful and the ugly, the no-longer-used, the tourist attraction and those that require strong nerves to travers. They all have something in common – they connect us to something, whether it’s the past, the future or just the other side.
