Hello, my name is Samir Benkhachan, I am 18 years old and I was born and raised in Switzerland. I love to make something magical out of nothing. At the age of 15 I discovered photography and immediately fell in love with it. I feel like photography is a perfect way to share your visions with others. It’s not necessarily the picture that matters the most, it’s rather the feeling it gives you. I’ve always felt the desire to open people’s eyes with my captions and to give them a magical moment. My daily motivation is the fact that people actually can see through the window I try to construct.

In this picture series I flew back to my roots, to the heart of Morocco. Even though I was born and raised in Switzerland, I’ve always felt a connection with Morocco. It has a kind of magic no other country can offer, It’s hard to describe yet It’s always present. There are two ways of experiencing Morocco, either you visit it or you live it. While exploring I randomly walked by a traditional “souk” (outdoor market). I loved the fact that the traditions still are valid. It feels like the time hasn’t passed over there. In a world full of progress and improvement It’s always of greater value to see such a lifestyle. The people seem to be more relaxed and happier than the once living in modern cities. I tried to capture this kind of freedom and to transfer it onto my canvas.
