Virgínia Sofia Neta (*2000) is a Portuguese artist based in Switzerland. Her practice spans from, drawings to photography and writing. As a visual artist, Virgínia focuses on bodies and the gestural tensions between what is seen and left unsaid. As a writer, she is interested in spur-of-the-moment writing sessions, where emotions are still raw and theatrical and in need to be processed.

This Polaroid series captures theatrical, Renaissance-like sculptures, their bodies and raw emotions. First with a digital camera, then rephotographed as Polaroids. The square format acts as a viewfinder, cropping context. This series is about limiting what is seen and how far one’s mind can be guided by the tensions born from context (or lack there of).
