What began with gardening grew into a deeper search for belonging. My art reflects on diversity, resilience, and the evolving meaning of home.

Through my photography, I wish to transcend the traditional meaning of migration. My work explores the relationship between the internal changes we experience throughout our lives and the physical movements which are part of our daily and travel journeys. My process consists of superimposing images of nature that were taken throughout my travels, in places where I naturally felt at home. Each photography, when layered, captures one brief moment that evokes a utopian feeling of emotional and physical security, giving the work its meaning as a whole. This series of photography explores the body as a feeling and nurturing place. By being in contact and connection both body and the spirit of nature is where the process of migration finds a secure place like home.

My work explores the relationship between the internal changes we experience throughout our lives and the physical movements which are part of our daily and travel journeys. My process consists of superimposing images of nature that were taken throughout my travels, in places where I naturally felt at home. Each photography, when layered, captures one brief moment that evokes a utopian feeling of emotional and physical security, giving the work its meaning as a whole. The images I choose are taken in different countries’ landscapes. In this series, I explored mainly the UAE and Switzerland, two places that are both foreign and feel home to me. My work tells the story of the cohabitation of these two opposite, yet very real feelings. The choice of smaller formats helps create an atmosphere of intimacy as I and the viewer embark on our unique internal journey of migration. While coming closer to experience the image, a deeper story of exploration begins.

In den vergangenen Monaten habe ich mit der Arbeit am Projekt «Die Natur der Migration» begonnen. Dabei verbinde ich Bilder, verschiedene Perspektiven und Welten, in denen ich lebe: Das Land, aus dem ich komme, Kolumbien, und das Land, in dem ich jetzt lebe, die Schweiz, wie auch im Moment der Nahe Osten, besonders die Vereinigten Emirate. Ich arbeite mit Bildern der Natur, die ich in diesen Ländern zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten und mit unterschiedlichen Kameras aufgenommen habe. Die Kombination all dieser Elemente verleiht dem Ergebnis eine besondere Tiefe, und kann in einigen Fällen einzigartige Bildwelten schaffen, welche durch die Verbindung aller miteinbezogener Elemente entstehen. Die Erinnerungen an den jeweiligen Ort in jedem einzelnen Bild übertragen die gelebte Essenz jener besonderen Welt. Aus Fragmenten entsteht eine Welt mit einem eigenen Charakter, die zu etwas Neuem heranwächst und in mir ein Gefühl des Zuhause sein, erweckt. Ich immigriere nach Hause durch das Gestalten dieser Bilder.
