Federico Farinatti (b. 1992) is an Italian photographer based in Zürich (CH). Graduated as architect at Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, he considers photography as an essential tool to communicate reality. His aim is to develop a meaningful visual language to convey and decipher the atmosphere of a space as well as our architectonic heritage. He works and collaborates with several architecture offices, online and print magazines, as well as academic institutions.

GREENCITY Greencity is a visual research about that transition between the tissue of the urban fabric and the rich natural presence of all those forests surrounding Zürich. These pieces of land are facing strong mutations in their essence. Where before empty fields or low rise factories, now dense compact dwelling units are facing and intertwining with the withstanding natural landscape. This photographic documentation narrates the essence of the human footprint, capturing this urban development in its progress, deliberately not at the end of the process. It tries to generate a direct confrontation between artificial and natural. This dialogue rises questions of proportions, of proximity, of new energies and synergies. How and where to create this border, how to expand the city boundaries? How to create a fruitful bond between built and unbuilt?
